The irrepressible Kíla play Sala Bikini in Barcelona on May 19th
Playing together for nearly 20 years, Kíla are one of Ireland’s most innovative and exciting bands. The seven members come from different musical backgrounds and share a passion to create great music with an ability to absorb influences from across the globe. The music, with its roots in traditional Irish features a strong percussive like singing and gorgeous melodies driven  by a serious rhythmical undercurrent. Kíla have created their own distinctive style of world music, which has won over audiences around the world through their eight recordings to date and their spectacular live performances.
2008 was an extremely busy year for Kíla where the highlight was the release of a DVD ‘Once Upon A Time’. It is a critically acclaimed live concert film which since it premiered in Galway has been wowing both music and film fans across the globe.
Anyone who has ever seen Kíla live knows the force of nature that they are. The band are here hot on the success of their last masterpiece Gamblers Ballet to promote this special movie in the only way they know how by blowing every audience before them away. This DVD captures all of that and more - charting the development of a busker’s collective on the streets of Dublin to a World music phenomenon. The accolades have been flooding in for this film…
