Every good festival should have one!
New this year is our festival club. The idea is to knit the weekend together by having a venue that can operate as a focus for the 5 days. We have found a great one in the George Payne Irish Bar, the biggest bar in Barcelona and reputedly all of continental Europe coming in at just under 1000m2 of bar.
We will be taking over the main bar each night of the festival and bringing the type of quality entertainment for which we are known. We want the club to grow into an organic type cabaret where we will mix different activities with the amazing live sets of The Dublin City Workingman's Band who may and will be joined by different guests over the nights.
The loose organic programme looks like:
Thursday 13th: 10pm til late - Official launch - DCWB plus guests
Friday 14th: 10pm til late - DCWB with a special set dedicated to the music of the most quintessential Dubliner of them all Ronnie Drew. Plus Guests.
Saturday 15th: 11.30pm til late - KíLA afterparty with DCWB + guests
Sunday 16th: 8pm Whiskey tasting with Dublin's Jameson Distillery
Sunday 16th: 8.30pm til late - EL FEILE 'Best of Irish Comedy Special' with ANDREW MAXWELL followed by music from George Payne house band
Sunday 16th: 23:30 til late - Garrett Wall Band
Monday 17th: We will be leaving Paddy's day to what the bars do best when promotions and activities will be happening throughout the city.
You can expect many promotions and offers in our festival club over the 4 days and we intend creating the best value night out in the city each night.
Note: 2008 is a very unusual year in that due to the way Easter will fall the Catholic Church have actually decided to move the Saint Patrick's Feast day to Saturday 15th in order to accommodate other religious holidays. The Bank holiday in Ireland remains the same and parades around the world will still take place on the 17th so we will be exploring any activities that can be formulised between now and the time. I'm not sure if this ever happened before. Watch the home page for all the latest news.
